About KC Closet: the store, its name, and our values
THE STORY BEHIND THE KC CLOSET
AS TOLD BY OWNER, NICOLE VOSKAMP
Owning a retail boutique has been my dream for as long as I can remember, and I always knew deep down that I would eventually make it happen. After completing Fashion School in Toronto in 2010, I moved back to my home town of Belleville, Ontario.
I pursued a career at Mode Elle Modelling & Acting Agency and became and invaluable member of their team with over 10 years of experience and a collection of insights into the fashion industry.
My childhood dream of owning a retail boutique soon became a reality under one of the most unfortunate and unrealistic circumstances. On the eleventh of July, 2016, my mother Karen passed away suddenly and everything changed.
My mother was a woman who gave herself completely to charitable work and had a passion of wanting to help others, which she was widely known for across her friends and family. KC Closet was established with the help of her best friend and with Nicole's mom's name in mind, the initials representing her name so she's always close to me.
Mama K had always encouraged me to start my own business by opening a boutique, it was only just a matter of time. So this one is for you Mom, thank you for always supporting me and encouraging me to pursue my dreams!
During the early stages of opening a storefront for KC Closet, and after 10 years of working at Mode Elle, Nicole purchased Mode Elle Model & Talent in October 2019. From there, NKC Fashion Inc. was established and both businesses are now proudly under the corporation.
In July 2020 I was fortunate to become a mother to my beautiful boy - Hendrik Voskamp.
I love spending time at home with my hubby and boy, being outdoors, gardening and exploring the beautiful county ( especially the wineries!) and all that it has to offer!
